Alejandro/Noah, also known as Alenoah, is a popular pairing within Total Drama fandom. The ship is between Alejandro and Noah, both prominent characters. Although the pairing has existed since 2010, when Alejandro was introduced as a contestant, it only became popular around 2021[1] following a Renaissance within the fandom at large, particularity for its Slash pairings.

Alejandro/Noah is Total Drama's second/third most fanwork'd ship on Archive of Our Own as of September 2023, neck-to-neck in popularity with Cody/Noah, the coupling of Cody and Noah. There is light ship war between Alejandro/Noah, Cody/Noah and Alejandro/Heather fans, though Owen/Noah shippers are not to be ignored from the equation.

Slippery Slopes by courtney-deserved-better is Alejandro/Noah's most well-known fanfiction. It convinced many of the pairing's potential, particularly existing Cody/Noah shippers[2]. The fanfiction is the most kudos'd fanwork in Total Drama's Archive of Our Own tag as of September 2023. Pretty Poisonous, Archived version by G4Y began two years prior in 2019 and is a fanfiction also credited with popularizing Alejandro/Noah.

On AO3, almost all Alejandro & Noah works are pre-slash.

Alejandro/Noah Fandom

The first fanfiction ever written for the pairing may have been Stumpted, Archived version by aipomtrainer430. Published on July 6th, 2010 to DeviantArt, it was created around a month after World Tour premiered in Canada and around a week after it did in the USA. aipomtrainer430 would also write one of its first longfics, A Musical Like No Other, in August.

In 2013, May 2nd became Alenoah Day on Chefhatchet's Appreciation Calendar.

From 2014 to 2016, sheerturmoil[3] was a major contributor of Alejandro/Noah fanart on Tumblr to the point that he was heavily associated with the pairing for many fans. In 2016, it was somewhat common fandom knowledge that he had a dramatic falling out with his circle of friends. In 2020, lu, one of these former friends, explained what happened[4]. Overall BNFs in the Total Drama fandom on Tumblr from 2013 to ~2015 such as Bri/ChickenMcNuggie also made Alejandro/Noah fanworks.

Some BNFs for the pairing as of 2023 include alenoah[5], courtney-deserved-better, ayawilliams[6], astrokyle[7], scepterno, braindos[8], alejandros.hubby[9] and tincannedcrow[10]. courtney-deserved-better is a BNF in Total Drama fandom as a whole. eavee-ry[11], most known for creating Island of the Slaughtered, also produces fanart of this pairing.

In 2023, Alejandro/Noah won "best ship of 2023" during Total Drama FanFic Awards 2023 with 34.4% of the vote, narrowly beating Julia/MK.

Pairing Names for Alejandro/Noah

The portmaneau "AleNoah" was coined as a pairing name for them in 2010. For a couple months early on in 2010, "Aleoah" was more common, and it may have been coined first.[13]

In later years, and as of 2024, spelling the name without the N capitalized is more common than not, similar to other ship names involving Alejandro.

Fan Opinions

Some claim that Alejandro/Noah and Alejandro/Heather have the same dynamic, as they are both Enemies to Lovers pairings. Some Alejandro/Noah fanarts are screenshots from the show featuring both Alejandro and Heather redrawn to be Alejandro and Noah instead[14]. Slippery Slopes also takes place in a Canon Divergence AU where Heather was eliminated in World Tour instead of Noah, further supporting this theory to some fans.

On TikTok, this has led to some ship war between the two pairings.

...the amount of people in the tdi fandom/community who say alenoah is proship/comship is actually hilarious. people r fr acting like they've never been in a fandom before, also here is why it is literally everything BUT comship;

first of all alenoah is not illegal at all. it is a teenager x a teenager, which is completely fine. and "oh but they hate each other!" its called enemies to lovers dumbass. also heather and alejandro hated each other and the only difference is that aleheather ended up canon and isnt a queer ship. also just because they both have canon girlfriends does NOT mean i or anyone else is going to immediately stop shipping them.

and i hear ppl say that noah looks like a child while alejandro looks 23, and no the tf they dont?? they both look appropriate for their age, they just have different body types, noah being skinny and weak with alejandro being more muscular and manly. theres nothing wrong w that either

people will do anything to find reasons to hate on rarepairs/crackships istg, especially queer ones... "it doesnt make sense!" yes it does, again, enemies to lovers. theyve also had many interactions so dont even start. and no ones forcing you to like alenoah, just stop being an asshole about it...[15]

Also on TikTok, some[16] may claim Alejandro and Noah look like brothers, thus should not be shipped. Although this is an uncommon opinion, a Tumblr post by milksteakkk, which aimed to debunk this theory, has nearly 1,000 notes as of October 2023.

There's also been some wank regarding Noah's height and overall size in relation to Alejandro, more so than with any other pairing involving him. Total Drama's artstyle exaggerates Noah's forehead, and in other art styles, its up to fan discretion whether the top of his model's forehead should be judged as his true height or not. Claims some Alejandro/Noah fanartists draw Noah overly short[17] are common.

Miscellaneous

"Noah's intellect and witty charm"?

Alejandro's voice actor Marco Grazzini said this in his Reddit AMA on the main Total Drama subreddit, r/Totaldrama. The phrasing may be parroted in Alejandro/Noah fancircles or otherwise alluded to, such as in the Tumblr post which inspired the creation of Slippery Slopes.

2014 Alenoah Day Raid

On May 2nd, 2014, known harasser and sockpuppeter in the fandom Tashalovesduncney attempted to flood the "Alenoah" tag on Tumblr with Courtney/Duncan screenshots and fanart. May 2nd was Alenoah Day on Chefhatchet's Appreciation Calendar at the time, a fan-made event schedule which encouraged fans to produce fanworks for characters and ships on particular days and put them "in the tag."

The ship wasn't targeted specifically: May 2nd happened to be the day she tried to come back to the fandom as "tashasbackbitches" after several months of being away, and this was done to harass the fandom as a whole by harassing fans who followed the calendar, with its shippers simply being in the crossfire. As one fan put it in 2017: compared to all she's done this is the most tame thing she had done but ppl were still mad abt that anyways lol.[Notes 1]

Alejandro/Noah on Archive of Our Own Timeline

In 2021, Alejandro/Noah was tagged in around 90 works on AO3.[19] This put it 5th in terms of overall relationships in the Total Drama category, behind Bridgette/Geoff. courtney-deserved-better joked that 2021 was the year of Alenoah at the time, since around 70 of the fanworks were created in just that year alone.[Notes 2] By 2022, this number had increased to 123, putting it 4th, behind Mike/Zoey.[20]

Alejandro/Noah really took off in 2023. By December, there were 623 works for them on AO3, surpassing third place Cody/Noah by around 80 works.[21] On May 2nd, 2024, one fan noted that it had surpassed Courtney/Duncan in terms of fanworks, with 876 total, 3 more than Courtney/Duncan, making it the most commonly tagged relationship in AO3's Total Drama category.[22] Another noted that this was the case as early as the 25th of April.[23]

As of June 13th, 2024, there were 867 public Courtney/Duncan works and 878 public Alejandro/Noah works[24].
