The Best Enemies Universe is a series of Kim Possible fanfics written by King in Yellow. With over 100 entries (with both one-shots and multi-chapter fics), it is the most detailed and complex continuity in the Kim Possible fandom. It is primarily a Kim Possible/Shego story, but has a number of side pairings and stories. Several of the entries adopt experimental storytelling styles and narrative devices.
The series contains a number of Author Tracts and moments of extensive expedition, where the characters opine on topics of geopolitics, the military industrial complex, race relations, and of course, religion.
Yeah, and wasn't it the second president - was that Addams? -who had a law passed saying it was treason to question the president? You want to look at the current administration, that wants to pass Constitutional amendments gutting freedom of speech and limiting the right of states to define marriage, instead of dealing with real issues like Iraq, the economy, and why the Vice-president's company has stolen ten billion from the US? Americans don't want their Bill of Rights, they want to live in a police state.Shego, Shego Vs Betty Director
While the story is set in the Kim Possible universe, there are several incidental crossovers that come about due to interdimensional instability within the Possible Mansion, which leads to cameo appearances by characters from other franchises, such as Harry Potter, Ghostbusters, and Cheers. Additionally, the story is also set in the same universe as Hellboy, with the members of the BPRD playing a large role in the Team Possible II arc.
Synopsis
Feeling lonely whilst working for Dr. Drakken, Shego establishes a truce with Kim Possible and they begin meeting regularly on a Friday evening at a local coffee shop for chats and companionship. Eventually, a relationship blossoms, and the two have to face the consequences of a hero and villain romance.
As the story continues, Kim and Shego have children together and move into Possible Manor, along with many of their friends, and the series expands to cover their lives as well. A major subplot involves Shego discovering and exploring her Jewish heritage.

Reading Order
This article or section needs expansion. |
Due to the sheer number of stories in this series, and the non-linear timeline, it can be difficult to follow the many intersecting plot threads. King in Yellow has a chronological timeline on their fanfiction.net profile, however due to elements of time travel present in the series, this isn't necessarily the best way to experience the story. Below is a suggested order for reading.
Original Arc
- 1 Best Enemies Redux - A rewritten version of the original story, incorporating elements from season 4 (which hadn't aired as of the original's writing)
- 2 Cognitive Dissonance
- 3 Before the Dawn
- 4 Grudge Matches
- 4.5 Shego vs Betty Director - Technically the 10th chapter of Grudge Matches, but would spoil the ending slightly, and so was uploaded separately.
- 5 Homecoming
- 6 Domus dulcis domus
- Ninja's in the House - takes place immediately after Domus dulcis domus. Final chapter takes place at the same time as some events in the Odd Couple, but no spoilers
- The Odd Couple - Takes place after the bulk of Ninja's in the House
Making an honest woman of Shego
- Twenty-four Hours
- Twenty-four Hours Appendix
- Thanksgiving at the Big Table
- The Blind Leading the Blind - Has some chapters set back in the Original Arc, but leads up to A Simple Jewish Wedding
- You Sometimes Hurt the One You Love
- A Simple Jewish Wedding
- Ron Time, Ron Place - Takes place immediately after A Simple Jewish Wedding
- R-E-S-P-E-C-T - Covers several years of Will and Monique's relationship. The final chapter takes place further down the timeline, but makes sense here.
Team Possible II
- Team Possible II - It's in the Blood
- Team Possible II - Doppelganger
- Team Possible II: Maggots of Doom
- Team Possible II: The Patchwork Man
- Team Possible II: City in the Sands - Takes place a year after the previous story, but explains what is going on between Joss and Wade during the next arc.
- How Was Your Day, Dear? - Takes place immediately after City in the Sands
Senior year

- Fast Away the Old Year Passes
