Canon
Books
The books are quite different from the films, featuring a small dragon instead, and are mostly ignored by the fandom. The books' story line is focused on Hiccup becoming a Hero as he calls it "The Hard Way."
Films
The Dreamworks film is about a meek Viking boy named Hiccup, who meets an injured Night Fury, a rare and dangerous dragon his father wants to kill. Hiccup secretly befriends the dragon, betraying Viking culture.
DreamWorks Dragons
The animated television series created by DreamWorks to bridge the gap between the first and second films. The first two seasons were subtitled Riders of Berk and Defenders of Berk. Forty episodes aired on Cartoon Network. The remaining five seasons were released exclusively on Netflix and were subtitled Race to the Edge.
