From the editorial:

Oh no, you say, not another long boring editorial. Well I'm sorry it will be long because there are so many people to thank, but I guarentee [sic] it won’t be that boring.

First I would like to thank my husband, [name redacted], who helpled [sic] me put this book together. For putting in long hours after work to complete my typesetting. But especialy [sic] for his patiences [sic] ttwards [sic] the end when I trully [sic] wacked [sic] out on him. It was partly his fault though for getting me pregnant towards the end of this project. You know the old saying,"you play, you pay.”

A special thanks to Sharon Wells and Julie Hamburg for all their input and suggestions. They amaze me with their insight and honest critisizime [sic]. As a writer venturing into the unknown world of zine production, their comments and help have been a learning experience for me.

And finally I would like to thank my writers, artists, and poets. A group of fabulously talented women, with one thing in common; their love for this beautifuly [sic] lyrical and utterly unique program. ’Beauty and the Beast'. And to all of fandom I would like to say; Be strong and steadfast for we shall overcome.

This book is lovingly dedicated to all hopeful romantics who believe, that once upon a time is now... and forever.

Reactions and Reviews: Issue 1

Classic stories and poems, mostly spinning off 2nd season, some splitting off from the Trilogy into Continued Classic. The strongest fiction, a novelette, “Family and Fatherhood” by Gretchen Kuehnlein-Kopmanis, is an account of C's deciding to bear a baby resulting from her rape by a stranger. Elegant artwork for this story by Susan Perry Lewis. Sharon Wells' brief “...Ever After” celebrates Vincent's wasting away to death to rejoin Catherine. Gina Alkazian's “Love Child” (C is pregnant with V's child) is continued in CoD-2. Some better proofreading was needed but that's only a minor distraction. Not a lighthearted zine, but sober, interesting, and involving. [1]

  • Among Friends by Linda Mooney
  • Love Child 2 by Gina Alkazian(C's wedding; C and V's baby is born)
  • Luke by Gretchen Kopmanis

Reactions and Reviews: Issue 2

Classic/Continued Classic V/C with emphasis on sweet vignettes. Linda Mooney's “Revelations” (Joe meets Vincent) and Gina Alkazian's “Love Child II” (C's wedding; C and V's baby, Philo, is born), and Star's “Dark Bargain” (V/C caught in a pit; C left confronting the Beast) are the stories reviewers singled out as strong. A few minor typos, punctuation errors, easily ignored. More charming moments. [2]

  • This Dream by Star (C's dramatic confrontation with the Other, and the truth of their love)
  • Baby Sister by Gina Alkazian (V and his adopted sister, Kyla)
  • other fiction by Carla McRorie, Raye Dene

Reactions and Reviews: Issue 3

“Beyond Knowledge” by Ann R. Brown tells of a V/C idyll in the countryside. “In Her Eyes” by Star is a short interlude wherein V is mesmerized by C's glances. Linda Mooney's “The Color of Roses” is another charming vignette concerning toenail polish-less frivolous than it sounds-and, in “Reminisce,” Mooney shows V & C playing sweet lovers' games. In the developed stories, “Princess Petunia” by Brown concerns a confrontation between C and Lena, as C is still undecided what to do about V. C sort-of decides to go away with Elliot as Lena moves in on glum V. But C does a turn-around, leading to a tasteful “first time” V/C encounter. “This Dream” by Star concerns C's dramatic confrontation with the Other, and the truth of their love. Alkazian's “Baby Sister” is a melodramatic story concerning V and his adopted sister, Kyla...a nun who was raped in South America, returned to the tunnels to bear the resulting child. In the background is Pascal, who loves Kyla. By the end, there's a tentative romance between Pascal and Kyla as she considers leaving the convent. Meanwhile, V & C discover passion in counterpoint to the other pair of disappointed lovers. The reviewer hoped to see more of this storyline in future zines. Other fiction by Carla McRorie, Raye Dene. Art by Jackie Kapke, Star, Sherri White, Sue Glasgow. [3]

Issue 4

Carousel of Dreams 4 was published in 1993 and contains 93 pages.
