Yorse is a fandom meme created in early February 2019. She is a combination of Yang Xiao Long and some kind of horse, and was created during the post-volume 6 hiatus. Many variations of Yorse have been created, depicting her as a centaur or Yang-headed horse, and occasionally including her prosthetic arm.

Origins

The earliest Yorse posts on Tumblr can be dated to February 6th, 2019 (EST). Now-deactivated user hallucid posted what is thought to be the first Yorse, garnering general reactions of cursedness, and more Yorse creations were made soon after by princessknightt.

Early Yorses were edits of the well-memed mobile game Horse Prince, but they soon branched off to be made with horses in general as Yorse gained popularity.

Yorse Fanfiction

On February 9th 2019, a fanfiction titled "yore fic" was posted to ao3 and immediately orphaned. The fic was written as a joke, standing at a mere 158 words, but nonetheless sparked a search for the mysterious creator. On February 14th, valentines day, tumblr user servalias confessed to be the author of the fic.

The Yorsepack

On February 6th, 2024, tumblr user yay-is-for-yorses published a minecraft texture pack to celebrate Yorse's birthday. This pack changed a few paintings, made the horse texture yorse, and added an overlay to all inventory screens. It also changed the "Minecraft" title upon launching the game to say "Yorsecraft", and changed all mentions of horse in the language file to yorse.

Arryn Discovers Yorse

On February 9th, 2019, Arryn Zech, the voice of Blake Belladonna, was convinced to search up Yorse while on stream. Clips were shared widely on tumblr, and there was discussion of whether or not it was right to involve crew members in fandom shenanigans. Regardless, Arryn decided to inform Barb later, and further mentions to Yorse can be seen occasionally from the both of them.

When discussing team rwby running, Barb makes a joke saying "I am now a horse girl!"

When asked about her hair routine, Yang mentions that she uses shampoo made for horses

Related Characters-

Following the widespread popularity of Yorse, many similar characters were created. Such as Lime Ren, by Ren's voice actor, and Bellaroacha. One of the most prominent of these is Bloconut, who was created by the-sapphic-raven on tumblr to be Yorse's girlfriend, after the reveal that volume 9 included an island.
