Relationship to LOONA's Fandom

Many members of the fandom identify as Orbits, this is the fandom name for the previous group LOONA. Legally speaking, the two groups are separate, operating under different companies. However, fans view ARTMS as a continuation of their career. Many of the LOONA accounts or communities (like r/LOONA) continue to discuss and promote ARTMS.

OURII

The official fandom name is OURII. This was established on October 25, 2023 via fan voting (Gravity). It combines the fifth letter of each member's name (JinSoul, Haseul, Choerry, Heejin, Kim Lip).[2] Other suggestions for the name included APOLLO, ASTER, Bit, Bow and BEAMS.[3]

Fans will often continue to use the previous fandom name Orbit.

Lightstick

In December 2023, the ARTMS lightstick was officially announced. The design was inspired by Minto's weapon from the anime Tokyo Mew Mew.[4][5]

Fan Club Kit

In 2024, ARTMS released an official fanclub kit for OURII. This included membership cards, tarot cards and more.[1]

Controversies

AI Art

A fan statement that circulated on Twitter to raise concerns with MODHAUS

In 2024, the group released the title poster for “Virtual Angel” and faced criticism from fans due to the suspected use of generative artificial intelligence.[6] These concerns were raised again following the release of the poster for “Air,” [7] and then again for the rest of the singles, with each song on the album receiving an AI-generated poster.

Fans began using the "#NO_AI_FOR_ARTMS" hashtag on Twitter to express concerns. A written fan statement circulated amongst Twitter users.[8] Some fans even boycotted all ARTMS content.[9] The concerns were also raised in the official ARTMS discord server. Some fans were blocked or muted.[10]

The complaints was directed towards MODHAUS, specifically CEO Jaden Jeong. He had already been a divisive figure within the fandom, often known for taking unconventional approaches with his K-Pop groups, some of which have been praised, like his invention of the LOONAVERSE. Others like the usage of AI artwork or NFTs, have been widely criticized by fans.

In response to fan concerns, Jaden posted an announcement in the official ARTMS discord, clarifying that the use of AI was purposely done to serve as a critique of the AI landscape. It would only be used in the teasers, not the final album. He also revealed the initial plans: following the AI images, the company would release hand-drawn illustrations of the same images. This lessened fans' concerns, though for some fans, the damage was already done.[11]
