Cat Grant is a DC Comics character that mainly appears in the Superman and Supergirl titles.

Canon

Cat Grant first appeared in Adventures of Superman #424 (January 1987). She started as a gossip columnist but is now a reporter. She even dated Clark Kent briefly, although they broke up. Her son Adam Grant was tragically murdered by Toyman.

Due to New 52, Cat was only slightly rebooted. She's a reporter at the Daily Planet and started a news blog with Clark.

Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman

Portrayed by Tracy Scoggins, Cat Grant was the Daily Planet gossip columnist with an interest in Clark Kent. Cat was portrayed as a shameless man-chaser, who tried to seduce Clark Kent very often. She only appeared in Season 1 and was dropped from the series with no explanation.

Smallville

Portrayed by Keri Lynn Pratt, Cat is a reporter at the Daily Planet that temporarily replaced Lois Lane when she went to Egypt in Season 10 and became Clark Kent's desk partner. Her real name is Mary Louise, who changed her name to protect her and her son, Adam Grant, from an abusive ex. She has made it her personal crusade to villainify heroes.

A character in Season 9 also went by the name of Cat Grant who is hired instead of Clark to host the morning show.

Supergirl (TV series)

Portrayed by Calista Flockhart, Cat is the founder of media conglomerate CatCo and is the mother of Carter Grant and Adam Foster. Kara Danvers is her personal assistant. She originally worked at the Daily Planet with Lois Lane (whom she shows is a rival of hers) and Clark Kent.

Fandom

Prior to the Supergirl TV series fandom, Cat was fairly rare to find in fanfiction and other fanworks dedicated solely on her. She mostly appeared as part of the Daily Planet staff in Superman related works.

Shipping

In the Supergirl TV series, Cat is mainly shipped with Kara Danvers. Originally some fans shipped her with Maxwell Lord.

Most of the other Cat Grant works are either gen or she's a background character in the fics and isn't actually in a pairing. There are a few works that have her paired up with Clark Kent and Tana Moon.
