Reactions and Reviews

I loved this story. The setting was great, some planet where the water was drying up. The main character had just the right mix of fear and compassion for a person living in that setting. I especially liked seeing Kirk and Spock's relationship from the POV of someone outside with no prurient interest and no ulterior motives. Just acknowledging their love and leaving them alone. I also liked the idea of telling a story from the point of view of a minor character involved only peripherally. In Star Trek we so often concentrate on the heroes and forget to wonder what happens to the little people. Not to mention that the tittle people often wonder what happened to the heroes. [1]

Atmospheric and intriguing beginnings as Kirk, Spock and McCoy on horseback come upon a waterhole in a desert where a mysterious character is guarding it. Lots of little mysteries unfold in this 4 page story. Told from the 1st. person of this man. the 3 take a Vulcan baby that the desert dwellers found in a crashed spacecraft. We don't know the time, place or events referred to in this story, but the mystery works well in this thought-provoking tale. [2]
