From the editorial:

Vanity and impatience.

If you were to ask me why I decided to publish this zine, that would be my answer. I'm vain enough to want to see my stories in print, and too impatient to wait... Fortunately, the process of acquiring, editing and publishing an anthology of Data stories is humbling enough to have squashed most of both out of me. As things turn out, this zine contains more words written by other people than by me. I am most grateful to the authors who have allowed me to publish their fiction, and particularly to Chris Carr for lending me considerable assistance and much-needed confidence with the actual editing.

I know you have already paid for this zine (at least, I hope you have), but I very much hope you will choose to give your fellow fans another payment in the form of a letter, telling us what you thought of it. If you enjoyed the stories, fulsome praise is always welcome! If you didn't, or can suggest improvements, please do write and say so. One day, I may be insane enough to try this again.

The editor also wrote:

Thanks to Marty Siegrist and the contributors to Psst ... Hey Kid, Wanna Buy A Fanzine? for instruction, for setting a good example, and for instilling real and necessary terror in the publisher's heart.
