Five Nights at Freddy's: Sister Location is the 6th game in the Five Nights at Freddy's indie horror game franchise by Scott Cawthon. Though it is the 6th game it is often referred to as the 5th. It is proceeded by Five Nights at Freddy's 4 (Jul 2015) and FNaF World (Jan 2016), then followed by Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria Simulator.

Plot and Gameplay

Five Nights at Freddy's: Sister Location has a more story-driven gameplay than previous titles. The players plays as William Afton's son, Michael Afton, who is a general employee of Circus Baby's Entertainment and Rental, an underground animatronic rental service. It introduces several new animatronic characters that the player must attend to, including Circus Baby, Funtime Freddy & Bon Bon, and Ballora among others. The player moves between multiple rooms to check on the status of the animatronics, including electrocuting them to "encourage" them to behave and preforming maintenance. Along the way, the voice of Circus Baby guides the player, giving them advice that counters the directions of the voice on the intercom. After an animatronic ambush on night 4, Circus Baby puts the player into the shell of an animatronic to protect them and gain their trust. On the last night Circus Baby instructs the player to destroy her body in the "scooping room." If the player obeys, Circus Baby is revealed to be "Ennard," an amalgamation of several animatronics. Ennard kills the player with the scooper and uses their skin to disguise itself as a human and escape- though additional hidden cutscenes reveal Ennard later discards the body and Michael survives, though mutilated. If the player disobeys, they have to fend off Ennard in a similar style to the other FNaF games. Other hidden plot points can be discovered through completing the custom night and finding Easter eggs.

Fandom

By Nov 8, 2016, about one month after FNaF:SL's release, there were 1243 fanfics on Archive of Our Own, having grown by about 100 fanfics since Aug 20, 2016.[1] By Oct 9, 2017, one year after SL's release, the tag had grown to 1517 fanfics. The most popular ship for FNaF on AO3 at that time was Phone Guy/Mike Schmidt with 61 fanfics. No ships with SL characters made it into the top 10 fanfics at that time.[2]

Shipping

The FNaFshipCLUB on DeviantART contains a folder for SL ships, some which date back to before the proceeding FNaF installment, making them original to SL.[3] Popular ships from the club's folder that came from 2016 included ships with Funtime Freddy, such as shipping Funtime Freddy with Funtime Foxy. Few ships from the group include Circus Baby, but some fanart in the folder includes Circus Baby/Ballora.

On Aminoapps a group titled Sister Location Ships was made circa 2018, and includes a list of SL-centric ships. These include Lolbit/Funtime Freddy, Bonnet/Bon Bon, and some ships with Circus Baby such as Circus Baby/Ballora and Circus Baby/Ennard. In this group, the admin abbreviates "Funtime" as "Ft."[4]
