Jason Eckhardt is a self-taught professional artist and illustrator known for his work in the H.P. Lovecraft fandom from the 1970s onwards. He contributed extensively to various 'zines as well as comics, graphic novels and books. He is not exactly a fan turned pro - his professional work was produced concurrently with his fanwork.

Notable Fanworks

Eckhardt provided covers for all issues of the Lovecraft Studies zine (except for issue #1, which did not use art for the first cover), as well as a number of covers and interior art for Crypt of Cthulhu. He also wrote fiction and articles for various zines and provided covers and interior art a number of small publishing groups who printed a variety of booklets, pamphlets and collections in small print runs. He also provided art for TTRPG sourcebooks for the Call of Cthulhu role-playing game.
