Omniocular is a fanfiction and fanart community on LiveJournal for Harry Potter gen fanworks. It was founded in 2005. Membership and posting access were selective, but the community also ran monthly gen challenges from January 2006 to February 2008, which were open to both members and watchers. The community profile states:
- omniocular is a selective community for writers, artists, and fans of Harry Potter gen fiction and art. The goals of this community are twofold. First, to provide a single source for high quality gen fiction and art of all characters, genres, styles, and eras and second, to encourage the gen community to become more active and supportive by hosting regular challenges, open to members and non-members alike, and a forum for archiving and recognizing the many talented writers and artists in the gen community.
As of July 2014, the community has over 800 posts and is watched by more than 550 people.
History & Staff
Omniocular was founded and moderated by sasha_davidovna and ignipes. The community also had scouts, including starrysummer, manraviel, gunderpants, and jetamors. [1]
Organization
The community used Livejournal's Memories feature to organize posts by author/artist, challenge, and main character.[2]
