Omori is the alter-ego of Sunny, only existing in Headspace, White Space, and Black Space. He lives in White Space, where he has lived for, "as long as [he] can remember."

Omori was created after Sunny accidentally killed his sister, Mari, when he was twelve-years-old. To cope with the trauma of killing her and helping fake her suicide, Sunny began to spend most of his time dreaming that he is Omori in White Space or Headspace, spending time in an idealistic world having adventures with his friends, and didn't leave his house for four years.

In the beginning game, Basil — in Headspace — discovers a picture revealing the truth of what Sunny and Basil did to Mari. Omori is kicked back into White Space and needs to stab himself to wake Sunny up. When Sunny goes back to sleep, Omori, Hero, Kel, and Aubrey begin their adventure to search for Basil.

If Sunny decides to open the door to Kel and spend time with his friends before moving away — known as the True Route — Omori will eventually enter Black Space and rediscover the truth about what happened to Mari. Soon after, Sunny and Omori will fight for control of Omori's body, with Omori representing Sunny's fears of rejection if he tells the truth and being a terrible person because of his role in Mari's death.

Omori will inevitably win the fight, but if Sunny chooses to continue in the game over screen, Sunny will play the duet he was meant to play with his sister the day she died. Omori will cease to exist, letting Sunny tell the truth to his friends and begin to heal. If Sunny chooses not to continue in the game over screen, Omori will take over Sunny's body and commit suicide.

If Sunny chooses not to open the door to Kel — known as the Hikikomori Route — Omori will slowly take over Sunny's body and either stab himself or move away with his mother, still haunted by his trauma.
