PALISADE is the eighth full season of the TTRPG actual-play podcast Friends at the Table and the fourth full installment of the Divine Cycle. It is a direct sequel of the show's sixth season, PARTIZAN, and the interstitial mini-season Road to PALISADE.

PALISADE has a smallish but active fanart- and fic-producing fandom on Tumblr, Twitter, and Cohost.

#DIDTHEYBLOWITUP2k23

In the summer of 2023, PALISADE entered an arc, known informally as the Stellar Combustor arc, with higher stakes than anything preceding it in Friends at the Table history: several players intended to embark on a stealth mission that, should their characters fail, would result in the death of not only every character in the show but also the destruction of the entire game setting, the setting from Twilight Mirage, and a sizeable chunk of the wider Divine Universe. Austin Walker, as the GM, went to great lengths to ensure that everyone (both in the cast and among the listeners) was aware that these stakes were real and he would blow up the setting if things went wrong.

This announcement was followed by an episode-release delay. The delay was caused by scheduling issues[1] - the episode that was meant to air that week had in fact not yet been recorded - but fans wasted no time in posting anxious (and light-hearted) speculations about whether the delay meant Palisade had blown up.[2] Sylvi Bullet, a member of the cast, egged the fandom on with a Tumblr post of her own:[3]

Fans took the hashtag #DIDTHEYBLOWITUP2k23 and ran with it, continuing to use it right through the end of the arc in early September 2023.[4] On the day the Stellar Combustor arc's last episode aired, Friends at the Table's storefront updated with new (spoilery) merch commemorating the arc. The storefront bore a header with a hashtag of its own: #ISURVIVEDCOMBUSTOR.[5]

Brnine's Love Interests

In October 2023, a meme cropped up on Tumblr regarding Kalvin Brnine's messy polycule, referring to the fact that multiple NPCs appeared to be conveying romantic feelings for, or otherwise developing shippy tension with, everybody's favourite ship captain with no social skills. Many hilarious posts ensued.
