The Petunia Fuh-Q Fest was a 2004 challenge at the Harry Potter Old Lady Smut Brigade community on LiveJournal. The challenge called for Petunia Dursley-centric fanfiction pairing her with another canon Harry Potter character.
It was the first Fuh-Q Fest held at the Harry Potter Old Lady Smut Brigade community.
Background
minerva_fan proposed the challenge as a protest to the news that the Dursleys would not be appearing in the Goblet of Fire film, as an effort to "turn her outrage in a productive direction". She posted the following background to the hp_oldladysb community, quoting from an original post on her personal LiveJournal:[1]
Chatted extensively with eleanor_zara on Wednesday night, in which webitchedcommisserated [sic] on the lack of Dursley activity in the fourth HP movie, while kvetching in a most nauseous way about the uberhotness (in her own dykey way) of one Ms. Fiona Shaw. We even came up with a concept--our own little protest in the form of a Petunia Fuh-Q Fest Challenge on hp_oldladysb. Okay, not the most productive of protests, but getting poor Petunia (that hussy) laid with as many characters as possible seems small recompense for not having her appear in the fourth movie.
The original deadline for the challenge was April 16, 2004, but it was extended to May 5.[2]
Rules
The original announcement post listed the rules as such, though they were not strictly enforced:
- Petunia must get laid at some point in the fic
- Her partner must be a character from HP (even Vernon, if your kinks lie in that (brrr) area), male or female. (I'd personally prefer no cross-generational fics, but if any come in, that's cool.)
- References to crappy movie sequels or movies that cut entire scenes from the books will be allowed extra kudos
- Multiple entries are welcome
- Kingsley Shacklebolt is a babe and must be paired with Petunia for some good old fashioned toe-curling lust. (Challenger's personal views; YMMV)
- Post stories with LJ-cuts or links to your own journals.
- Stories can be from G (if you can manage it) to NC-17.
- Deadline is next Friday, 16 April 2004, but entries will be accepted after that. (Hell, we all have lives, and this is just for fun.)
- Rules and entries will be archived under "Petunia Fuh-Q Fest" category on the HPOLSB Memories page.
- If anyone wants to vote, well, the "winner" will become High Petunia Avatar for the Day and will receive the Virtual Frilly Apron of Desire as their reward.
