The Purple Heart Awards were X-Files fan fiction awards that had been given in recognition of excellence for fan fiction written and currently housed on MulderTorture Anonymous (MTA) in 1998 and 1999. Like many X-Files Websites of that time, it was hosted on Geocities. The site was last updated on 2/16/2000.

The Award and banner graphic was named after the military honor of same name that is awarded to soldiers wounded in the line of duty.

Categories

There are three separate categories for stories:

  • Vintage: This encompasses all stories(not including slash) written before October 1,1997.
  • Current:This encompasses all stories (not including slash) written between October 1,1997 and September 30, 1998.
  • Slash:This encompasses all stories currently residing in the Slash Division.
  • MTA Established Author Achievement Award (1999 only)
  • MTA Newcomer Author Achievement Award (1999 only)
  • MTA Author Achievement Award (1998 only)

Rules

  • Anything currently housed in MTA is eligible
  • MTA Author Achievement Award: "For the author who has done the most to tastefully promote MulderTorture/Angst not only in this archive,but in others. The nominee must have posted in no less than 3 mailing list/archive]s...ATXC does count as a mailing list."
