Sun Wukong is one of the main characters of Lego Monkie Kid. He chooses the titular character MK the Monkie Kid as his successor, and takes on the role of his mentor throughout the show. While he isn't exactly the greatest teacher, he's always trying to do the right thing. Wukong's personality can be initially described as laid-back, lazy, and casual on the surface, but deeply caring and serious when things get dangerous.

Common Tropes & Fanon
- Dad/Parental Sun Wukong: Wukong is often portrayed in a parental role to MK, even in canon, although the possibility of him being MK's biological dad was firmly debunked in season 4. Fanworks often show Wukong either raising MK as a child, or taking on a parental role after he becomes MK's mentor.
- Accidental Baby Acquisition: Following the Dad/Parental Sun Wukong trope, fanworks often depict him (usually along with Macaque) stumbling across MK as a baby or small child and ending up taking him in.
