Summaries & Reviews

  • "This is simply the best Sirius/Lupin doujinshi in existence. It starts before Prisoner of Azkaban with Lupin reading in the paper about Sirius's escape and there's a bit of angst and guilt when he gets to Hogwarts. Then, there's the happy ending that takes place after the book ends. There's also a short novel and another angst-ridden Lupin story about his depression over being a werewolf. This doujinshi is simply amazing."[3]
  • "Synodic is a rare book because it is the first harry doujinshi of the famous circle : Shisinden. Included with great art, good story, popular paring and very thick book. (146 pages!) Many collectors recommend it at high grade or 'Don't miss' list."[4]
  • "Yep, this is officially the largest doujinshi that I own as of now. This thing is huge! And, being that it's Shisinden, I'm not complaining in the slightest! Synodic Month contains several stories surrounding Remus and Sirius. The first tale shows Remus going a little loopy as he reads the paper and discovers that Sirius has escaped Azkaban. Later, he accepts the position of professor at Hogwarts and watches over Harry and Ron, seeing in the two boys the same bond of friendship that once existed between himself and Sirius. Another tale tells of Sirius watching over Remus' monthly transformation with a silver-bullet-loaded gun (I think Remus bit Sirius the previous month). The last tale tells of Remus' resignation from Hogwarts, and he writes to Sirius (sending an owl, who looks remarkably like Pigwidgeon, addressed to 'Somewhere by the lake in the forest') asking that he pick him up at a designated point. Sirius shows, and after a bit of arguing and angsting, Sirius tackles Remus for a good snog."[5]
  • "This whole doujinshi pretty much talks about how Remus and Sirius felt about each other. The first story is told in Lupin's point of view about how he felt when he found out that Sirius escaped from Azkaban. The second story is told in Black's point of view about how he felt for Lupin while they're living together with Lupin transforimng in every full moon. Both are pretty serious and agsty, but none the less good. Of course, the pairing would most definetly be Sirius x Remus"[2]
  • "HP doujinshi by Shisinden is praised to be one of the best HP doujinshi. Definitely recommend. This book is their first HP DJ publication and had been out of print for a long time. It is not easy or cheap to locate this dj due to its low print volume and its popularity. ^^;"[6]
  • "Same group [as Lagrangian Points], so expect more agony and pain (but in a good way, sort of) that is Sirius/Remus. Synodic Month contains two stories: the first is sort-of a prequel to book 3 when Remus found out Sirius has escaped from Azkaban (he breaks down, and I don't mean crying); and the second one expands on the werewolf theme (you get to see Sirius pointing a gun at himself though). As for the art, see above [review for Lagrangian Points, which says: The art looks like watercolour, but it's in black and white. The style is perhaps the most realistic one out of the lot I've read; somehow it reminds me of some of the yaoi manga.]."[7]
