I'm a little leary of having enormous quotes at the top of pages. For one thing, I don't think it looks good. For another, there may be copyright issues. Song lyrics are especially dangerous to go around quoting without justification.
On another subject, I can't find a help page about it, but date categories are not used on fandom overview pages. The focus of date categories, like the focus of this wiki, is fandom itself, and the fandom did not exist only in the year(s) that the canon was being produced.--aethel (talk) 00:43, 27 February 2019 (UTC)
- I agree with you about both of these things and I think all the quotes that have been added to any pages (enormous or not) should be removed as irrelevant spam... but these are probably things that need to be brought up with JKFAN, because they're the only one who's been doing them as far as I'm aware. - Hoopla (talk) 05:02, 27 February 2019 (UTC)
- We can quote from lyrics - they are, like most other copyrighted things subject to fair use. But they are a sensitive spot for many artists, so I think it is wiser to offer some form of commentary. Ex: "For many fans, this chorus forms the core of their fannish identity. Fans have composed epic fan operas based on these few lines. One fan has even tattooed them on her forehead. And a few have even named their children after each adjective used in the chorus." This would then also move the lyrics lower into the body of the article...which further supports their use as commentary.MeeDee (talk) 16:24, 9 March 2019 (UTC)
