Tauntaun Express is a gen Star Wars fanzine published in Victoria, BC, Canada.

Issue 1

Tauntaun Express 1 was published in 1982 (second printing: March 1983) and has 116 pages.

The art is by Scott Farquar (front cover), Neil Andrews, Jackie Dunster, Eric Chu, Myles Bos, and Gordon Carleton.

From the editorial:

'TAUNTAUN EXPRESS' is a genre 'zine, for all its title may imply the opposite. And just to prove it, we have a fairly broad range of materials from across the S.F. field.

The content does weigh heavily towards "Star Wars" this issue, but there's also something for "Star Trek" fans, and even a bit of "Blade Runner" [1]. In future issues we hope to bring some nostalgia with "U.F.O." and (if the writers are out there) "Galactica", "Man From Atlantis", and even "The Phoenix"!

For the "Star Wars" crowd; 'Princess for Sale' brings a touch of difference, showing the Leia we all know in a slightly different light. 'Nova Chaser' takes us off the beaten track with original characters as well as the familiar ones.

'Worthy Of Love' brings back "Star Trek", delving into a relationship so out of the ordinary. In this story, Gavvey explores the reason behind how it came to be, and why.

'Misdirection' draws out the childhood fantasy in each one of us with its "what if' premise.

And finally, 'Super Luke', written by an eight year old. It was included as something different. And because children grow up to be adults. It's the children who dream the hardest and fullest without losing touch with reality who become our professionals. They, in turn, share their fantasies with us.

We present some new artists as well as a couple of relatively familiar ones. There's poetry and humor, as well as the serious articles.

Reactions and Reviews: Issue 1

Star Wars fan fiction involving 'Artoo Detoo' and 'See-Threepio' getting lost on the planet Sionus; fairly humdrum but with a twist ending of sorts. Sionus turns out to be Earth.

Poor repro (photocopy), and a reliance on media-based fiction, quizzes, and art, combine with an outlook that can only be described as joyfully clumsy amateurishness. [2]

Issue 2

Tautaun Express 2 was published in 1983.

Issue 3

Tautaun Express 3 was published in 1983.
